Okay, I've decided to take the plunge and do a blog as I am told that it is a very important vehicle to have for my work. The only problem is I don't have the faintest idea of how to go about putting it together. I'm wondering if this is the place where I am to write and express whatever it is that I feel should be shared and well as uploading something new of my work. I just figured out how to select a file and there I am.

Last month I was in Indianapolis, Indiana to attend the opening of the National Art Museum of Sport's exhibition titled "Commitment to Excellence in Art and Sport: A Fine Art Competition Exhibit on view from November 2010 - April 2011. This is the inaugural international fine art competition and exhibit at NAMOS.

This museum is the best kept secret and anyone that loves art and sports will be so glad they heard about this gem. It is chock full of beautiful work in their permanent collection as well as the on going exhibition. The museum was founded by Germain Green Glidden (1913-1999). He was a man of vision who appreciated good art and a sport well played. NAMOS opened it's gallery doors in 1968 in Madison Square Garden in NYC. The conception was taking place way before that between 1954 and 1957 but it took until 1968 to bring this vision to full fruition along with much hard work and money. NAMOS has grown largely over these last 51 years and is now housed in Indianapolis. If you are in the vicinity and you are interested in sports and a passion for art this is the place you must visit. Every conceivable sport you can think of is represented here and created by renown artists from all over the world. Next year the Super Bowl will be held in Indianapolis and it will surely be a very busy place.

The museum is connected to a wonderful hotel known as University Place Hotel. I stayed there and enjoyed it very much. They have two restaurants in the hotel which makes it convenient and a shuttle that will take you within a few miles. The campus of Purdue University is across the way. I enjoyed visiting the Indianapolis Art Museum while I was there and was pleased to find many of my favorite artists in the collection. They have a nice cafeteria and a wonderful gift shop. It is all situated on beautiful grounds with many sculptures and gardens.

Well, I managed to let you know about my trip to The National Art Museum of Sport and now I will try to figure out how to post this. If I am successful I will come back and post some of my recent paintings.
